Apologies to dedicated followers of Shoegaze Dog, but due to some unforseen server issues, we were forced offline for a while. Rest assured that you can't keep a good dog down, and Shoegaze Dog is back and better than ever!

We'll be getting more dogs on the blog asap, so please bear with us as we've obviously got a considerable backdog to get through.

Thanks

Shoegazer Russell looks like his dog!

They say dogs look like their owners, well here's conclusive proof that shoegaze dogs are no different! Russell from Bridlington in Yorkshire has sent us this fantastic picture of him and his dog Mark. Russell is a budding guitarist himself, and apparently Mark is prone to "howl like a wolf" at the sound of Russell's Fender Jaguar feeding back through a cranked up Marshall JCM800 stack.

So, the question here is surely: could this be the first shoegaze band to actually feature a dog? We'll be watching with interest here at Shoegaze Dog.

Thanks to Russell for getting in touch. If you've got a shoegaze loving canine at home, send your pics and info to us at shoegazedog@gmail.com

Sam from Bristol drops in for a chat

Name: Sam
Location: Bristol
Breed: Labrador

Hi Sam, thanks for dropping by, how did you discover Shoegaze? Well, I was badly treated by my previous owner, she made me listen to all that mass produced pop rubbish that was popular in the late eighties. My time at the RSPCA was the best thing that could have happened to me. Met some really great dogs in that place, who turned me onto some great bands like the Cocteau Twins and My Bloody Valentine. I miss those dudes, they really changed the way I thought about sound. I knew then that my next owner had to be a gazer.

Its funny how short term negatives can result in big positives in the long run. Anyway what's your favourite shoegaze album? Definitely Loveless by MBV. I know that's probably what all the dogs say but its the daddy of them all isn't it? It remains a sonic masterpiece and it still has the capacity to take me away from the day to day mundanities of this miserable world. Whenever I hear Only Shallow it sends shivers down my coat and I wag my tail involuntarily.

Amen to that! Loveless still gets played most days in the offices here at Shoegaze Dog. So what about your favourite shoegaze gig? I saw most of the big hitters in the scene back in the day, but perhaps the many pints of snakebite and black have impaired my memories! I went to one of the MBV reunion shows whch was brilliant. Phenomenally loud too. Unfortunately the complimentary earplugs were too small for my big flappy ears. I couldn't hear my owner calling me in the park the next day - I just kept running off into the bushes for a couple of hours. Needless to say I was in the doghouse when we finally got home! But then that's where I usually am anyway.

Thanks for your time Sam. No problem Shoegaze Dog, loving the site, keep up the good work!
